"Not only did I get the help I needed, but it felt so good to know that women in another area cared about me, my children, and my situation"

We thought, Northern Virginia is overflowing with gently-used baby and toddler clothes, toys, and equipment--online, in yard sales, at Meet-ups--more than can possibly be used locally. So why not collect items that are in excellent shape from generous moms and share them with moms and families in rural Virginia where the concentration of resources is not nearly as great?

What our Clients Have to Say...

Our Mission

To help familes of small children in the Northern Neck of Virginia living in need or experiencing a temporary crisis by providing free infant, toddler, and preschool food, supplies, clothing, and equipment, reaching those families for whom transportation is a challenge by meeting them where they are.

So Anne, a mom and teacher, and Caitlin, a mom and nurse, working with Katherine, a grandmother and retired school principal and counselor living now in the Northern Neck, started My Grandmother's House. The name, "My Grandmother's House," represents a place where you will always be welcome, always be given help, and never judged--in the best tradition of grandmothers everywhere.

A Unique Approach

Focused on the needs of families with very young children, newborn through preschoolers, My Grandmother's House provides these resources to families, at no cost, through a mobile "shop" which delivers emergency supplies to families when they are unable to get to our shop at 2220 Morattico Road in Nuttsville (near Lively).
